The Peloponnese sits on the route of almost every vessel moving between the Aegean and the Ionian. Three points along that coast carry commercial traffic, and we attend all three from our Piraeus base.

The Peloponnese in the eastern Mediterranean, between Italy and the Suez approaches.

Vatika (Neapoli)

36°31'N / 23°03'E • GRNEA • View on Maps

A drift anchorage at the southeastern corner of the Peloponnese, close to Cape Maleas, where vessels turn between the Aegean and the Ionian. The vessel stays at drift and is served where she lies, which keeps port dues, pilotage and towage out of the account. Bulk carriers, tankers and gas carriers call here for ship-to-ship transfers, crew changes, stores and spares, and while awaiting orders.

Kalamata

37°01'N / 22°07'E • GRKLX • View on Maps

A commercial port and anchorage in the Messenian Gulf, serving the export trade of the southwestern Peloponnese. It suits vessels working between Greece, Italy and North Africa, and it makes a practical mid-voyage call.

Katakolo

37°38'N / 21°19'E • GRKAK • View on Maps

Cruise and cargo port on the western coast, and the gateway to Olympia. A natural stop for tonnage heading to or from the Adriatic and the Ionian.

Operations We Handle

The full range is available at all three:

  • Crew changes, visas, hotels and transfers
  • Spares, stores, provisions and bonded supplies with customs clearance
  • Bunkering and fresh water
  • Class, P&I and draft surveys
  • Underwater inspections and hull cleaning
  • Waste disposal and cash to master

Everything Arrives by Road

This is where the Peloponnese works in your favour. All three ports are a few hours from Athens by motorway, so stores, spares, provisions, technicians and surveyors travel overland from Piraeus. Road transport follows your schedule. If the vessel arrives early, the truck leaves early. If she is delayed, the delivery moves with her. Crew fly into Athens International Airport for its connections and continue by car.

One Agent for the Whole Coast

We prepare an itemized proforma before arrival, coordinate the authorities, and attend in person at each call. One point of contact from Vatika to Katakolo, with the same standards and the same reporting. See the full list of Greek ports we cover and our ship agency services.
